Want to improve your design by analytically investigating its behavior under severe use conditions?
Need to make an important design decision now, but pressed for time and resources?
Looking for expert advice on improving your product design?

Look no further than Peter Wastney Engineering

Peter Wastney Engineering has advanced degreed engineers with specialties in areas of engineering and finite element analysis (FEA).  With over 5 years of experience behind them, our consultants are well versed in various facets of product design analysis and testing.  We are equipped with a range of state-of-the-art CAD and FEA tools, which can handle 3D modeling of parts and multi-part assemblies analysis.

With FEA, design can be simulated in the computer, vastly reducing the need for costly testing.  Most manufacturers will prototype and test their products. While testing will always produce the most dependable answers, it is also very expensive.  There are real practical limits to test as well. Using FEA, only the final design iteration needs prototyping to verify the analysis in most cases.  This approach can be far more economical then testing alone.  FEA can simulate highly complex Objects, often using far more accurate assumptions then other analytical methods.  The result is better, performing more economical design.  The hand analyst must use a very conservative approach.  More conservative simplifying assumptions have to be made in a hand analysis to make some answers possible.  While this method assures the safety of a design, it does not give answers specific to the item analyzed.  It can also lead to awkward and overly cautious designs. Through more accurate results, FEA will improve your design.

HOW CAN WE HELP YOU?

Test new design approaches or modify an existing design: If your organization does not have the time or software or human resources to conduct FEA, our engineers can help you test your innovative ideas.

Make informed decisions: If you are at a decision point in your design process, let us help you make the right choices based upon a solid engineering principles. Do side?by?side analysis of competing designs. Identify which design is better' suited to the task and understand why.

Modify an existing design: Does it need to be stronger, lighter, perform new functions or work under new conditions? Test modification in the computer first.

Solve manufacturing problems: Insight into your manufacturing process can lead to real improvements. FEA can model many aspects of a manufacturing process.

Verify design safety: FEA is a proven way to avoid expensive failures. An FEA model can be economically tested over a wide

variety of possible scenarios. You have more confidence that you are not compromising safety while making design choices.

Meet certifications and specifications: FEA has become so widely accepted that an FEA analysis is often required to meet specifications. Even where this is not the case, verifying compliance often requires expensive testing. Our engineers have helped many companies in meeting FDA, military and Bell Core certifications as well as ASME codes.

Failure analysis and trouble shooting: Understand why something failed in the field, or is not performing up to expectations under typical service conditions. Through FEA, the root cause of the failure can be identified through a careful process of analysis and correlation with available physical data. By understanding the primary failure mechanisms, modifications can be made which will make the design more reliable; Reanalysis of the new design under identical conditions will validate the reliability of the new design.
